Central PA Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash With Deer: Lehigh County Coroner

A 64-year-old Germansville man was killed in a motorcycle crash with a deer in Lehigh County on Monday morning, Oct. 1, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Frederick R. Brauchle III, of Heidelberg Township, was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the area of 4842 Mountain Road in Washington Township when he crashed into a deer at 5 a.m., according to the Pennsylvania State Police and the Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio.

PA State Police were called to the area at 5:50 a.m., Trooper Nathan T. Branosky explained. 

Brauchle was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, according to Buglio. The cause of death is "Blunt Force Trauma" and the manner is "accident", Buglio wrote in his release.

Mountain Road was closed between Furnace Road and Jones Road during the investigation into the crash, police said. The roads were reopened at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 1.

Troop M Forensic Services Unit, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office, Slatedale Fire Department, and Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.

Pennsylvania State Police Bethlehem Station are investigating.
